Visceral fat refers to the fat stored within the abdominal cavity, surrounding vital organs such as the liver, pancreas, and intestines. Unlike subcutaneous fat (fat stored under the skin), visceral fat is metabolically active and has been linked to various health risks and chronic diseases.
Visceral fat is metabolically active and plays a significant role in disrupting hormonal balance, insulin sensitivity, lipid metabolism, and inflammation. Monitoring changes in visceral fat levels over time provides valuable information about metabolic health status and the effectiveness of interventions aimed at reducing visceral fat accumulation.
